Outstanding People

Audrey Tang is a passionate educator and leader in the field of international education. As the Principal at ESF Hillside International Kindergarten, she brings a rich multicultural perspective to her work, thanks to her diverse background that spans cultures from both the East and the West.

Audrey holds qualifications from Canada and Hong Kong, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Over the past two decades, she has dedicated her career to international education, specialising in Early Years and serving local and global families in Hong Kong.

In addition to her role as Principal, Audrey is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Workshop Leader and Visiting Team Member. She advocates for learning through authentic play and inquiry, recognising the importance of holistic development in young learners. By creating joyful learning environments and fostering a collaborative learning culture within the school community, Audrey strives to create an atmosphere where all learners can thrive.

Laura Bousfield has had the incredible privilege of working at this remarkable school for the past ten years, alongside Audrey and Brenda. Throughout her journey there, she has embraced various roles, each contributing to her growth and development as an educator. It all began when she started as an EA.

She then went to Sydney to continue her studies and completed a Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Early Childhood. Laura spent three years teaching in Australia, where she gained valuable experience and insights into fostering a supportive learning environment.

Returning to Hong Kong, Laura found herself drawn back to the very school she is currently at, Hillside. Here, she discovered a profound passion for creating a sense of belonging for all children, embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion wholeheartedly. She firmly believes that every child deserves a nurturing environment where they can flourish and become the best version of themselves.

In her current role at Hillside, Laura is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive community that celebrates the unique strengths and abilities of each child. Through collaborative efforts with teachers, parents, and the wider school community, she strives to create an environment where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered.

Brenda Yuen is an experienced educator and passionate advocate for play and inquiry. With qualifications and experience in early years settings across Canada and Hong Kong, she brings expertise and perspective in early years pedagogy to ESF Hillside Kindergarten. In her role as the PYP Coordinator, she is dedicated to supporting meaningful implementation of inquiry-based learning and teaching, whilst being grounded in research-based early years practices. Brenda's core values of growth, connection, and courage guide her work in fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment where children, teachers, and parents thrive in partnership together. Within and beyond the school community, her belief in every individual's capacity for growth drives her commitment to co-create cultures of learning rooted in curiosity and open-mindedness.
