Sustainability

Sustainability

At Hillside we are committed to promoting sustainability, along with minimising the impact of our human footprint on the earth.

Where possible, we will source and use environmentally friendly materials. We will use less and reuse as much as possible throughout kindergarten and think carefully about the resources we use.

We are very conscious that so many children around the world currently do not have enough fresh food to eat or clean water to drink. Children at Hillside will be taught about the value of food and water, and teachers will be expected to model this through the learning engagements that are presented to the children, for example, when engaged in learning activities, playing games, class parties, etc. Resources must be respected and not wasted at any time.

We ask our parent community to support our ongoing efforts on sustainability to avoid unnecessary consumption and waste. For example, we ask parents to limit the use of single-use plastic bags, limit party/ goody bags, and support our pre-loved uniform sale.
