How Do Children Learn at Hillside?
At Hillside, we believe that children learn best through play-based inquiry, where they develop their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and understanding of concepts. Our classrooms are designed to spark curiosity and encourage discovery, making learning relevant to the "real world" while providing appropriate challenges for each child. We build upon children’s prior knowledge and strengths, honouring their experiences and cultural and linguistic backgrounds to enhance their learning journey. We empower children to become independent learners and critical, creative thinkers ready to take action.
For our early learners’ parents, we offer the resource "Inquiry through Play – Supporting PYP Parents," which introduces the power of play, offers guidance on how to support learning through play, and provides examples of what this looks like in practice.
